Bromhexine HCl, guaifenesin.
Each 5-mL syrup contains bromhexine hydrochloride 4 mg and guaifenesin 100 mg.
Woods' Peppermint Expectorant is appropriate for productive cough or cough due to bronchitis or emphysema because it is formulated with the combination of the expectorant action of guaifenesin and the mucolytic action of bromhexine hydrochloride. Guaifenesin works by stimulation of ciliary in the respiratory tract to loosen phlegm and to decrease the viscosity of the mucus.

Adults and children >12 years: 2 tsps (10 mL) 3 times daily. 6-12 years: 1 tsp (5 mL) 3 times daily.

Guaifenesin gives a false positive result of urinary 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) and vanyllilmandelic acid (VMA).
